nap quilt no. 028 {SOLD}

dimensions: an imperfect rectangle, roughly 48x60in / 122x152cm

March, April and May of 2020 marked the first phase of a major lockdown in most of the US during the Covid-19 pandemic. This quilt was stitched like I could stitch forever given we did not know what the extent of quarantine would be. And as of this writing (July 2020), we still don’t.

This quilt is made with pale pink linen and pink cotton plus a gazillion stitches in a graphite thread color with additional stitching in pink pearl cotton. Machine pieced and quilted by hand. The reverse is an ivory cotton. It is self-bound, meaning, the top fabric is folded over the edge to the reverse side and hand-stitched with lapped corners on the back. It is a minimalist look that is perfect for this particular quilt. The nap logo head is embroidered on the reverse with naive cursive embroidery that records the moment in time in which this quilt was made. This nap quilt no. 028 is the only one of its kind. Designed, pieced, and stitched in Provincetown.

Historic note: The pink cotton comes from the abundant, beautiful offcuts I received from Mary DeAngelis, beloved clothing designer until 2014, now artist and writer, in Provincetown.
